American Powertrain’s Hydramax utilizes the stock brake master cylinder mounting location to locate the clutch master cylinder support bracket, ensuring a strong mounting location. It is well known the stock G-body firewall is not strong enough to support a typical hydraulic clutch conversion, and if you thought adding a hydraulic clutch was an easy upgrade, often times, it does not have the proper geometry for a universal-type fitment. That concern is no longer relevant, as American Powertrain has solved the issue. Rowing your own gears adds a great level of enjoyment, but there is a large issue plaguing the upgrade – the availability of clutch linkage. If you own a ‘78 to ‘88 G-body, you’ve certainly thought about what it would be like to add a manual transmission. The complete kit makes adding a clutch to your G-body an easy install.
